Central Izalco, sugarcane processing mill of Compañía Azucarera Salvadoreña (CASSA), obtained the FSSC 22000 certification (Food Safety System Certification), which guarantees the standards of food safety in the production process of the supply chain. Central Izalco is one of the first sugar mill in El Salvador to obtain such certification.
What is FSCC 22000?
It is a food safety management system for food manufacturing companies, and is based on FSSC 22000: 2010, ISO 22000: 2005 and ISO/TS 22002-1: 2009 compliance.
Because it is based on ISO 22000: 2005, FSSC 22000 integrates perfectly with other management systems based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, making it part of an integral strategy for quality improvement and safety for any organization that prepares food.
It includes pre guidelines programmes for food safety: Good Practices of Manufacturing (GMP), Operational Procedures of Standard of Sanitation (SSOP) and the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Points of Critical Control (HACCP).
FSSC 22000 CASSA provides an internationally recognized format, featuring a comprehensive management system that meets the requirements of food safety for both customers and regulators
